What is a colposcopy
We offer colposcopies for women who have ve had a recent cervical smear test showing abnormalities.
A colposcopy is an examination of the using a binocular microscope called “colposcope”. During a colposcopy if your gtnecologist doctor has found abnormal cells, they may be able to treat them immediately.
The gynecologist Dr.Nevra places a speculum in the vagina and applies a vinegar solution to the cervix. This can sting for a while and Dr.Nevra looks at the cervix with the microscope and examines the transition zone. She assesses the squamous cells ,cylinder cells and takes pictures of the cervics transformation zone.
In case of cervical abnormalities, our gynecologist takes some tissue samples from the cervix, by one or more and the samples are assessed by the pathologist.
